This nice French Gendarme Model an 9 flintlock pistol is dated 1811. The overall length is approx. 10"". The 5"" round 60 caliber barrel has a fine smooth bore with light roughness. All the metal parts are bright with very light spotting and discoloration. The barrel has an S near the pan and B over 1811 on the left flat. The barrel tang is marked M an 9 (Model Year 9). The lock is marked Maubeuge Manufr. Imple (Imperial Manufactory of Maubeuge). There are various inspection and mating marks on other parts. The stock is good with sharp edges, no chips or cracks, very light wear, an 1811 dated rondel and large script inspector's stamp on the left flat, and a script inspector's stamp to the rear of the barrel tang. It is equipped with the correct ramrod. The action functions correctly. This is one of the nicest French an 9 Gendarme flintlock pistols we have seen.
