1600s EUROPEAN Antique “DOGLOCK” FLINTLOCK .38 Caliber Pistol Very Rare SCARCE 17th Century Antique Flintlock Pistol
Description: 1600s EUROPEAN Antique “DOGLOCK” FLINTLOCK .38 Caliber Pistol Very Rare SCARCE 17th Century Antique Flintlock Pistol Here we present an antique Doglock Flintlock Pistol, made circa the 17th Century. The doglock was an evolutionary step in firearms design that features the little dogleg catch behind the cock that acted as a sort of half-cock safety feature. Later so-called “true” flintlocks would have a half-cock built internally into the mechanism. These were in use during the 1600s and beyond, though flintlock mechanisms would advance even within the century. Of course, more refined mechanisms did not mean that these ceased to be used. On the contrary, many firearms continued to be used for decades or until they were unusable. The doglock was produced in England as well as in Western Europe by countries such as the Netherlands. This was a sidearm for someone during a very exciting period in history, when colonialism was at its climax, Europe was at war, and piracy was expected. This little pistol found itself in North America at some point and there is no telling how many conflicts it has seen. The overall condition is good. The action functions properly. The bore is smooth and dark. The stock remains very solid. An excellent piece of history! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4-1/2 inches. Caliber: .38 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
