FINE American REVOLUTIONARY Charleville Pistol
Description: FINE American REVOLUTIONARY Charleville Pistol FRENCH 1763/66 Used by Colonial Continental Army Here we present an antique Charleville Model 1763/66 Flintlock Pistol, made circa 1763 at Charleville, France. These pistols were standard issue in France during the late 18th Century. They would become part of the instrumental supply line from France to the American Colonists during the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783). France was especially motivated to assist the effort against the British due to their longstanding enmity, as well as the defeat and colonial territory loss suffered during the Seven Years War, of which the French and Indian War (1754-1763) was a part. The French, then under King Louis XVI, began sending the rebels supplies in secret at first, then became directly engaged in the conflict in 1778. This pistol features an original flintlock marked “M de/Charleville”. The barrel is marked “M 1763”. The barrel band and other hardware are of iron. Various proof and inspector marks are found throughout. Located inside the lock and stock are assembly numbers in Roman numerals. The overall condition is fine. The metal surfaces are slightly dark with age. The markings are clear and legible. The walnut stock is smooth and solid, fine condition. The bore is very good. The action is strong. Along with this piece is included the 1835 printed address given by Edward Everett at the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Lexington, the opening engagement of the American War for Independence. According to the address, only 11 veterans of the war were still alive and 10 of them were in attendance. It includes the roll of Captain Parker’s Company of Militia as enrolled at the time of this battle. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 9 inches in length. Caliber: .69 percussion Bore is in very good condition. The firing mechanism is excellent. Overall condition as seen in photos. Here is a magnificent example of a pistol that fought the American War for Independence . Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
