French Model 1837 Naval Pistol by Chatellrault

Description:
This is a percussion single shot French Naval pistol and is dated 1837. It has a 5 7/8” smooth bore 61 caliber barrel. These pistols were finished in the white. The mechanical function is very good with a crisp action. The bore is excellent and is not pitted. It appears to have hardly ever been fired. The nipple is excellent. There is a Navy Anchor stamped on the butt. There are no cracks or damage to the wood, other than normal wear a few surface dents. The French walnut stock has a number 1619. Has an anchor stamped on the brass butt cap. These were imported by the Confederate Navy, and possibility by the Union.Check my inventory of rare grips, unusual gun parts, barrels and holsters.
