ISRAEL SEGALAS Antique Queen Anne FLINTLOCK Pistol Engraved All Metal Breech Loading Pistol
Description: ISRAEL SEGALAS Antique Queen Anne FLINTLOCK Pistol Engraved All Metal Breech Loading Pistol Here we present an antique English Queen Anne Flintlock Pistol, made circa the 1760s in Birmingham, England. This pistol was built by Israel Segalas II (1714-1774) around the 1760s in London. His father, Israel Segalas I was a French Huguenot (a persecuted Christian at the hands of the Catholics) who migrated to England in the late 17th century and was active as a gunmaker in London in the early 18th century. This pistol was made during a time of immigration and warfare, with England first involved in the Seven Years War (1756-1763) and the French Indian War (1754-1763), then the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783). This pistol is quite beautiful and fully engraved. The barrel is in the cannon style and it does unthread for loading. Loading the breech directly, as opposed to loading via the muzzle, allows the shooter to use a larger ball for better gas seal and is therefore more efficient. This is an original surviving flintlock and not converted as many were when the percussion firing system became available. The overall condition is good. The bore is in good condition with clear rifling. The action is mobile but has no spring tension presently. Here is a rare little piece of 18th Century history! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 1-1/4 inches. Caliber: .36 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1750 #190443 SOLD Antique: Yes |
