Pirate 17th ~18th Century Long Flintlock Pistol
Description: SOLD A colorful early European Frech made Long flintlock pirate pistol of the 17th~18th Century. With a .67 cal., bore and a 12 3/8” part round and part octagon barrel with a smooth bore that is moderately oxidized and pitted. The barrel has a few sprigs of engraving and the metal surfaces have toned to brown thinning to pewter on the back of the barrel. The lock, triggerguard, and flared steel buttcap are brown iron of early design. The two barrel bands are brass toned to ochre with moderate tarnish and light punch-dot design,as originally pins held the barrel to the stock, and when lost a wire wrap was used in place. The French one-piece walnut stock rates about good with light even wear showing short cracks at the front of the lock, lightly carved well-worn designs on the tang . The left side of the stock has a lightly inset lockplate laid out in a series of circular designs, there is a moderate crack running the from the barrel to below the plate. These developed in time when the wood dried and had shrunk and the gun eas also used as a club after firing the first shot in a naval engagement. The backstrap has a teardrop shaped inset medallion with bold carved geometric and round designs. The lock does function. with a very strong mainspring and the flint showers profuse sparks,, and the frizzen still moves. A nice example of aa early pitaye used long flintlock pistol . It would make a great wall hanger. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost. We don’t have a web site .I prefer money orders or a check. Item ships when funds come in. I try to keep guns affordable, which means I make less money than most dealers. You won’t get altitude sickness, or nose bleed, with my prices! I consistently have the best selection of older guns If you attempt to buy, you must still contact us for details . Best to email to buy. Sometimes a local person can stop buy and purchase before the gun is removed. Sometimes not home to get calls. Some guns are required shipment to a gun dealer near you for a transfer to you when it arrives. Otherwise many older or black powder guns ship to your door. With the widest selection of older guns at great prices, We don’t have a store, and sell on the internet only. I’m easy to get along with. Thank You SOLD Antique: Yes |
