This Model 1836 flintlock pistol was US arsenal altered to percussion using the cone in barrel (Belgian) method. It was subsequently used hard, probably during the Civil War. The 54 caliber barrel has a good smooth bore with light roughness. The US and inspectors stamp at the breech are visible. The nipple is worn even with the barrel. All the metal has a brown patina. The lock is marked with an eagle over A. WATERS over MILLBURY. MS. over 12841 with an HH inspection stamp in front. The ramrod is present but the ramrod swivel assembly is absent. The stock is broken in the trigger area around to the barrel tang. There is also a large chip missing from the hammer to about 1"" to the rear of the lock. The stock inspection marks are visible. There is an old collection inventory number in red ink next to the trigger guard. The action functions correctly. This pistol has a lot of charm.
