HOWELL, LONDON SILVER MOUNTED DERINGER STYLE PERCUSSION BELT PISTOL CA. 1840’S-50’S. 10” o/a with 6” octagon Damascus .50 caliber barrel engraved on top flat “LONDON” and with front and rear sights and double silver bands at breech. Lock floral scroll engraved and the with maker name. Checkered walnut stock with floral engraved German silver mounts and percussion cap trap in butt. German silver stirrup ramrod mount with original steel ramrod. Very good plus overall and all original in working order. Nice example of the form of pistol invented by Henry Deringer of Philadelphia by a well known London maker for the American market. Gold Rush, Mexican War and Civil War era.
