c1850s mfr. BELGIAN Antique O/U Double Barrel .62 Percussion Pistol Howdah
LARGE BORE Liege Proofed Damascus
Description: c1850s mfr. BELGIAN Antique O/U Double Barrel .62 Percussion Pistol Howdah LARGE BORE Liege Proofed Damascus Here we present an antique Belgian Double Barrel Over/Under Percussion Pistol, made circa the 1850s in Liege, Belgium. Today we know that Liege is a city in Belgium, perhaps most famous for its centuries of arms manufacture. From the time that firearms were introduced, gunsmiths had experimented with various ways to turn those single shot weapons into multi-shot weapons. Prior to the use of “repeating” arms, one of the most successful systems was to use multiple barrels, each with their own load and charge. In Belgium, many pistols were produced with two or four barrels, and sometimes even more. This pistol is massive, very much in the style of the British Howdah, which was designed to have at least two (sometimes more) massive bores for hunting dangerous game like tigers up close and personal in India. This pistol has dual Damascus barrels, back action locks, and a trigger for each. Light engraving. Liege proofs. The overall condition is very good. Original finish/patina. The actions are excellent. The bores are smooth and patinated. The stock is solid. There is an immobile split under the right lock. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 8-1/4 inches. Caliber: .62 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #226971 SOLD Antique: Yes |
