DOG HEAD Hammer Antique SPANISH MIQUELET .70 Belt Pistol CARVED, ENGRAVED
Ornate Martial Sized Pistol from the 1800s
Description: DOG HEAD Hammer Antique SPANISH MIQUELET .70 Belt Pistol CARVED, ENGRAVED Ornate Martial Sized Pistol from the 1800s Here we present an antique Spanish Patilla, or “Militia” Miquelet Percussion Belt Pistol, made circa the early 1800s. The miquelet was an early and sturdy form of flintlock popular throughout Europe and the Ottoman Empire from the seventeenth into the early nineteenth century. A “Miquelet” is a type of flintlock developed in Spain. It is a distinctive form of snaplock, originally as a flint-against-steel ignition form, once prevalent in Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Balkans, North Africa and the Ottoman Empire from the late 16th to the mid-19th centuries. The miquelet lock, with its combined battery and pan cover was the final innovative link that made the flintlock mechanism possible. It proved to be both the precursor and companion to what we now call the “true” flintlock. This pistol likely saw a lot of Spanish history pass in its lifetime. The overall condition is good. This one was converted from flintlock to percussion circa 1840 and has a distinctive dog’s head hammer. Patina throughout. The action is excellent and strong. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock shows use and is solid throughout with beautiful floral carvings. A very attractive piece! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8-1/4 inches. Caliber: .70 Percussion Conversion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2000 #244604 SOLD Antique: Yes |
