This is a nice Danish Model 1772 heavy dragoon flintlock holster pistol. The overall length is approx. 20.5"". The 13"" round 70 caliber barrel has a fine smooth bore with very light erosion. It has a large brass blade front sight. The barrel has a smooth brown patina. It is marked in large script at the breech with what appears to be SCN 42 over a smaller 39 with a small R inspection stamp below. The 39 is repeated on the side plate. The lock has a smooth brown patina and is unmarked with the exception of an inspection stamp that is unreadable as it is covered by the frizzen spring. The brass nose cap, trigger guard, ramrod pipes, butt cap, and side plate have a dark aged patina. The dark-stained beech stock is good with a couple of small chips around the lock and no other cracks or chips. Approx. 95% of the dark stock finish remains. It retains the original ramrod. The action functions correctly. If you like large flintlock holster pistols, this Danish Model 1772 heavy dragoon pistol is for your collection!
