U.S. Model 1842 Pistol by Aston. Dated 1851. Nice sharp gun. Very good clear markings. Both lock and barrel are dated 1851. Metal has been lightly cleaned. Small spots of pitting are on the barrel along with minor dings. Cartouches are visible and clear. Around the cartouches is the name lightly inscribed “L.J. Ward…???”. Presumably a previous owner. Wood is very good with nice sharp edges. One small crack goes from the side plate. Interesting inscription that needs to be researched further.
