1 of 3,000 Produced Antique SIMEON NORTH U.S. M1826 NAVY FLINTLOCK Pistol
Early American United States Navy MILITARY Sidearm
Description: 1 of 3,000 Produced Antique SIMEON NORTH U.S. M1826 NAVY FLINTLOCK Pistol Early American United States Navy MILITARY Sidearm Here we present an antique Simeon North U.S. Model 1826 Navy Flintlock Pistol, made in 1827 with a production run between 1826-29 in Middletown, Connecticut. This pistol would have started out life as a flintlock and had a period conversion as the new percussion technology developed before being reconverted back to its original flintlock state. This rarely seen model is historically significant as the last U.S. Martial Pistol contract manufactured by Simeon North (1765-1852) for the U.S. military. North had been manufacturing pistols under contract since the Model 1799, which was the first official U.S. martial pistol, and is credited with playing a crucial role in the industrialization of the United States, including the introduction of milling machines and interchangeable parts. Only 3,000 of these pistols were manufactured at North’s shop in Middletown. Primary conflicts that would have involved this piece during its service life were the Seminole Wars, the Pawnee Expedition, the Mexican-American War and even the American Civil War. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Good bore for its age. This example has been reconverted. Some cracking is present around the lock. The varnish has worn on the forend but is vibrant on the grip. Legible markings. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8-5/8 inches. Caliber: .54 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1900 #247411 SOLD Antique: Yes |
