Large Engraved and Ivory Inlaid Pistol

Here we present an antique Ottoman Flintlock Pistol. The letters on the lock place this pistol in the Balkans or Caucuses Regions during the late 18th or early 19th centuries, during the time of Ottoman occupation. This period was marked by the decline of the Ottoman Empire and the “national awakening” of many of its member territories, resulting in rebellion and secession. These included Greece, Serbia, Bosnia, Albania, Bulgaria and Romania among others.

This pistol is in overall good condition. It features a very long and highly decorated barrel. The barrel is fully engraved and bears a small gold inlaid maker’s mark on the top near the breech. Brass trigger guard and pommel are decorated with moon and stars. The stock is inlaid with ivory. The lock is marked with an unfamiliar language. The lock functions nicely.
