Description: ALL-BRASS BRITISH Antique BOXLOCK Pistol by THOMAS ARCHER .44 cal Flintlock With Inscribed SILVER ESCUTCHEON Here we present an antique Thomas Archer All-Brass Flintlock Boxlock Pistol, made circa late 1700s in Birmingham, England. Thomas Archer Sr. and Jr. operated out of Birmingham in the late-1700s to the early-1800s. This attractive pistol was made primarily for self-defense inside point-and-shoot distances. The boxlock frame and barrel are made entirely of brass. With “Crown/V” and “Crown/P” proof marks on the bottom of the action at the breech. It features floral and scroll engraving patterns with a “ARCHER” in a tent style banner on the left side with “LONDON” on the right. The overall condition is very good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. Solid grip with light handling wear and average dents and dings and a bit of gap at the top tang. Markings are legible. “EHC” inscribed silver grip escutcheon.
