Antique 1846 Dated EUROPEAN Percussion .34 Cal. SELF DEFENSE Belt Pistol
EUROPEAN Self-defense BELT/MUFF Pistol!
Description: Antique 1846 Dated EUROPEAN Percussion .34 Cal. SELF DEFENSE Belt Pistol EUROPEAN Self-defense BELT/MUFF Pistol! Here we present an antique European Percussion Pocket Pistol, made circa 1846, likely in either London or Liege. Both London and Liege have long been manufacturing centers for the world’s arms trade. This small type of pistol was very popular from the 18th and into the 19th Centuries in Europe, as well as the colonies that features a .34 caliber bore that would have been worn on the belt or holstered as it was possibly carried into battle after being privately purchased. This is a neat old pistol and one can easily imagine the sight of its bore would certainly be a deterrent to would be scoundrels. It was of course made primarily for self-defense, especially in cities or traveling around the countryside. This little self-defense pistol would have been most at home in the pocket of anyone in the busy cities of London, Liege, or Paris during the tumultuous times of the mid-1800s. These type pistols are small, light and simple. The “Pocket Pistol” name says it all. They were the "Saturday Night Specials" of the 16th-19th century. Before the Deringer, they were "Gentleman's" or "Muff Pistols", typically, a smaller pistol that was easily concealed. They were favored among the gentry and women because of these traits. Men would carry them concealed in a waistcoat pocket and women would hide them in a hand muff. The overall condition is good. Simple, yet strong action. Good bore, has aged. Both grips are in good shape with an average amount of handling wear (dents and dings). “1846” dated barrel top. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 6-1/2 inches. Caliber: .32 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
