ANTIQUE Boxlock FLINTLOCK BLUNDERBUSS PISTOL .50 Caliber Single Shot The Original Stagecoach and Naval Ship Boarding Gun!
Description: ANTIQUE Boxlock FLINTLOCK BLUNDERBUSS PISTOL .50 Caliber Single Shot The Original Stagecoach and Naval Ship Boarding Gun! Here we present an antique Flintlock Blunderbuss Pistol, made circa the late 1700s to the early-1800s likely European in origin. The blunderbuss is a firearm with a short, large caliber barrel flared at the muzzle and used with shot and other projectiles. The blunderbuss is commonly considered to be an early predecessor of the modern day shotgun, with similar military and defensive use. It was effective only at short range, lacking accuracy at long range. A blunderbuss in handgun form was called a Dragon, and it is from this that the term “Dragoon” evolved. The flintlock blunderbuss was the original coach gun, being a short, handy and devastating weapon at close range. It was used in many capacities, not the least of which were for naval boarding or defending vessels. The condition is very good. The action is strong and tight. The bore is in good shape for its age. A panoply of arms is engraved nicely on both sides of the frame. The finish has matured to a pleasing dark brown patina throughout. Here is a truly unique piece of history! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8 inches. Caliber: Approximately .50 Flintlock. Bore flares to one inch. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe.
