Antique ROBERT JOHNSON US Model 1836 .54 Cal. Smoothbore Conversion Pistol
STANDARD ISSUE of the MEXICAN-AMERICAN WAR!
Description: Antique ROBERT JOHNSON US Model 1836 .54 Cal. Smoothbore Conversion Pistol STANDARD ISSUE of the MEXICAN-AMERICAN WAR! Here we present an antique Robert Johnson Model 1836 Percussion Conversion Pistol made circa 1843 in Middletown, Connecticut. This .54 caliber smoothbore, percussion pistol would have started out life as a flintlock and converted when the more reliable percussion firing system was introduced and is one of approximately 18,000 Model 1836 pistols manufactured by Robert Johnson. The Model 1836 was widely considered to be the best designed and manufactured flintlock pistol. The pistol has an 8 1/2-inch round barrel with a brass front sight blade, swivel ramrod with button head and iron mountings. The barrel, ramrod, butt cap, barrel band and trigger guard are "bright" finish. The lock plate, hammer, and tang were once casehardened. The right lock is marked "US / JOHNSON / MIDDN.CONN. / 1843". Inspection and proof marks are visible atop the barrel. The Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol was the standard issue handgun of the Mexican War. The overall condition is very good. Strong action. Good bore. The wood contains less than expected wear with two sharp cartouches on the left wrist. Thin crack at the left stock flat emanating from the lock screw, which is typical and stable. Clear markings. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8-1/2 inches. Caliber: .54 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1650 #220106 SOLD Antique: Yes |
