Antique T. KETLAND & Co. “K.W. & A” Marked Brass Barrel FLINTLOCK Pistol
KETLAND, WALKER & ADAMS Marked Flintlock
Description: Antique T. KETLAND & Co. “K.W. & A” Marked Brass Barrel FLINTLOCK Pistol KETLAND, WALKER & ADAMS Marked Flintlock Here we present an antique T. Ketland & Co. “K.W. & A.” marked Flintlock Pistol, made circa 1814-15 in turn of the century England. Ketland & Co. operated in Birmingham, England, from the late 1700s and to the early 1800s to become one of the most prominent and active British makers of the day. John and Thomas Ketland were the sons of Thomas Ketland and grandsons of William Ketland, who had been making locks and guns for the colonies since the early 18th Century. The lock plate is marked “T. KETLAND” and the brass barrel is marked “LONDON”. The left side of the barrel is stamped with post-1813 proof marks. The “KW&A” marked on the stock stands for Ketland, Walker and Adams which places it in a fairly narrow time frame as shortly after John Adams was taken into the partnership and before William Walker retired. It was probably made in 1814 or 1815. This pistol could have easily belonged to a military officer during this period. The brass barrel is round with a beautiful full-length walnut stock, and the engravings on the brass are reserved yet handsome. If only this gun could tell us some stories. The overall condition is very good. Excellent action. The bore is in good shape considering its age. Solid walnut stock with a smooth varnish. Sharp markings. “KW&A” is marked twice on the left stock flat. Here is a great flintlock pistol from the early 1800s! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 9 inches. Caliber: .58 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #247419 SOLD Antique: Yes |
