c1750s Antique BUCKMASTER .67 Caliber Percussion Conversion HOLSTER Pistol
Gunmaker to the HUDSON BAY COMPANY
Description: c1750s Antique BUCKMASTER .67 Caliber Percussion Conversion HOLSTER Pistol Gunmaker to the HUDSON BAY COMPANY Here we present an antique Joseph Buckmaster Percussion Pistol, made circa the 1750s in London, England. According to “Gunmakers of London, 1350-1850” by Howard L. Blackmore, Joseph Buckmaster began his apprenticeship to William Buckmaster in 1720 and became a Master Gunsmith in 1746. He was Gunmaker to the Hudson Bay Company between the years of 1745 to his death in 1764. Three Buckmaster are documented in London (Joseph, William and Robert) between 1720 and 1763. The left side of the barrel has London proofs. The lock is marked “BUCKMASTER”. This pistol has some definite wear to it. It may have been restocked long ago. The simplicity of the piece compared to some of Buckmaster’s other works certainly suggest the possibility of this being a trade pistol. The action is strong. Good, smooth bore with aged patina. The stock/grip is solid despite having a few splits here and there that do not move even under pressure (they seem related either to the selection of the wood or even weathering). There is a small knot on the left side of the pistol. The ramrod tube underneath has been soldered back on. Overall, a very worn, very old pistol that makes you ask, “Just where have you been?” Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 9 inches. Caliber: .67 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2585 #217719 SOLD Antique: Yes |
