DUCKFOOT Ornate FOUR Barrel Pistol .32 Caliber PIRATE Mediterranean Antique Volley Pistol with Belthook & Inlaid Grips!
Description: DUCKFOOT Ornate FOUR Barrel Pistol .32 Caliber PIRATE Mediterranean Antique Volley Pistol with Belthook & Inlaid Grips! Here we present an antique Four Barrel “Duckfoot” Pistol, made circa the 1850s. This would have been a handy sidearm for the pirate, the slaver, or the ship’s captain who Shanghaied the wrong men—not infrequently the same scoundrel would participate in all three activities. One man backed into a corner could wound or kill several men in theory. Until usable revolver designs were perfected in the 1830s, the only way to increase a gun’s firing ability was to give it multiple barrels that could either all fire at the same time or could be selected to fire at the user’s pleasure. Normally this was limited to a maximum of three barrels, mainly due to the weight factor. This example is the pistol equivalent of the volley gun, having four barrels mounted on a single breech plate. This four barrel pistol would have been very attractive to anyone who routinely was faced with an unruly and potentially violent crown. Armed with his “Duckfoot”, a resolute man could subdue an angry mob, though imagine what this would do if used against a single man at contact distance. It must have been a truly comforting feeling having one of these on the belt when facing those who would wish to do great bodily harm. The overall condition is good. The action is functional but weak. The bores are smooth and dim. The grips are solid and maintain their metal inlays. This one has a belt hook as well as a lanyard ring. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel are 4-1/2 inches. Caliber: .32 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2200 #230127 SOLD Antique: Yes |
