EARLY EUROPEAN Antique RING Trigger .36 REVOLVER
Description:
EARLY EUROPEAN Antique RING Trigger .36 REVOLVER
ENGRAVED Circa 1840s Percussion Pistol
Here we present an antique Belgian Ring Trigger Percussion Revolver, made circa the 1840s in Liege, Belgium. The grip frame is marked “H. GOLLEVE BREVETE” meaning that the patent for this concept was granted to H. Golleve. This revolver features a double action only system with a 6-shot cylinder. A single pull of the ringed trigger cocks the hammer, revolves the cylinder, then releases the hammer. This revolver would have likely been worn on a belt and would have stayed relevant all the way through the late 19th Century. The piece was very nicely engraved on the frame and trigger, with scrolls flowing all the way down the back strap and onto the pommel. The cylinder has a small border on the leading edge, as well as a Liege proof mark.
The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces feature a plum patina. The engraving and marking are still quite good and legible. The grips show period use, but are solid. The bore is untouched. The action is excellent. Here is a scarce example of an early European percussion revolver that was obviously used but well-loved.
