ENGRAVED PAIR British Antique NOCK Marked FLINTLOCK Boxlock POCKET Pistols
LONDON Marked with Post-1813 BIRMINGHAM PROOFS
Description: ENGRAVED PAIR British Antique NOCK Marked FLINTLOCK Boxlock POCKET Pistols LONDON Marked with Post-1813 BIRMINGHAM PROOFS Here we present an antique Pair of Engraved Nock of London Flintlock Pocket Pistols, made circa post-1813 in London, England. These guns were manufactured by Samuel Nock, who was the nephew of famed innovative gunmaker Henry Nock and apprenticed under him. Samuel was first listed as a gunmaker in 1804 at Hawkesbury Place in London before moving to 180 Fleet Street between 1806 and 1822, and then between 1823 and 1852 he was in business at Regents Circus. After he died in 1851, the business was carried on by the executors from 1853 to 1858. He was also an accomplished gunmaker and worked through the transitional period from flintlocks to percussion systems. He served as a royal gunmaker to the English monarchy from King George III in 1805 up to Queen Victoria starting in 1837. These would have been small, concealable pistols, one for each pocket for defensive purposes. They could rightfully be considered the precursors of the American Deringer pistols and would likewise have been usually acquired in pairs so that one would have two shots instead of one. Each is proofed with Birmingham proofs and marked by the maker, “NOCK”, and “LONDON”. Each has a folding trigger that stows until the hammer is cocked. Turn-screw barrel for tool-less loading and a tighter gas seal. The overall condition is fine. Original patina. The actions are excellent. The bores are smooth and in great shape. The grips are well-checkered and solid. A fantastic matching pair of walking around pistols from 19th Century England! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 1-3/4 inches. Calibers are .48 Percussion. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3195 #226973 SOLD Antique: Yes |
