Here is a fine and very rare set of BM Bosworth underhammer pistols.  According to Flyderman's,  they are .38 caliber percussion with heavy brass frame and 5 7/8" part octagon barrels finished in the white.  Near mint bores.  Each pistol is stamped with maker.  Unusual bag style handles.  Actions work perfectly.  I state that it is a matched set but there are many  subtle differences leading me to beleive this is a factory tool room set.  One seems to have many updates that transended into the final gun.  (Gun 2 Production Gun Style) It has a bead sight and the bag handle that is actually a compartment for caps, etc that opens with a push button.  It has two proofs in front of logo (other does not).  Logo is wider.  Slightly smaller  trigger and different shaped hammer.  ( Proto Type Gun 1)  While the other pistol has  the push button option in bottom of butt,  this one does not have the release button but rather it has a screw securing handle (would not make sense as once you unscrew to open compartment,  where would the screw go?) and no hole in bottom of butt for said button  Proto type does not have a front sight bead.  No proof marks in front of logo.  The case looks like a tool room box., much like that used by tool and die makers.  It is very old and simple, no room for accessories ,  is carved out of wood and the pistols barely move once inside.  There is a loop screw in center but does not open anything.  Box is aged and original to gun and the insides are flat black painted wood starting to flake.   Both pistols are basically unused with some oxidation on white steel of barrels which remain in the white. In addition,  neither gun has any rifling.   First of this type we have seen and more than likely,  a one of a kind hand made tool room samples set .  Both work perfectly, very strong spring and set with crisp trigger pull.   If you collect unusual or one of a kind items,  you will never see another set like this . They were made in Warren Rhode Island. Antique, no serial numbers.
