J. Richards 1780's Revolutionary War Period British Flint Lock Cannon Barrel Swivel Ramrod Officers or Travelers Pistol
Description:
Gun retains a pleasing patina overall with some minor rust and pitting in areas. Well engraved on the lock Richards. The top of the barrel is engraved I RICHARDS STRAND LONDON which is correct for a John Richards made gun. He was listed at Strand St in London from 1778 until his death in 1821. This gun has early feaures putting it towards the beginning of his production. Brass mounted. Swivel ramrod under the 9 3/4 inch barrel with flared canon muzzle. Roughly 15 1/4 inches long overall. The stock has some dings and handling marks, with some age cracks in a couple spots that are solid (pictured). Flat sides to the grip. Fine mechanical function. Really a great looking gun made during the period of the American Revolution.
