A fine Joseph Manton smooth bore 55 caliber flintlock large pistol made 1790 - 1820. it is 15-1/2 inches over with a 10 inch Damascus barrel double gold banded at the breech. The words MANTON LONDON are inlayed in gold foward of the rear sight. The front sight is silver. All of the furniture is plain steel with engraving on the lock, hammer, breech tang, and trigger guard. The barrel has all of the Damascus finish remaining. Lock function is sharp and strong, and the frizzen and spring are tight and strong. The original ramrod is horn tipped with a iron worm on the small end. This pistol is all original and has sharp wood. There is a tight age crack from the trigger guard to the rear rod pipe. The bore is smooth, and shows no signs of ever having been fired. Please see the photos to determine actual condition. This is a fine antique pistol from a most noted maker. Cert. checks or USPS money orders only accepted. Sorry, not interested in trades.
