SIDE by SIDE Pistol PERCUSSION Double Barrel SELF DEFENSE Pistol Here we present an antique Williams & Powell Percussion Side by Side Pistol, made sometime in the mid-19th Century in Liverpool, England. Thomas Williams and Samuel Powell bought their gun business from Mrs. Ann Patrick (formally Edward Patrick and Jeremiah Patrick) in Liverpool, England, in 1833. Their partnership ended, but which of the partners left, retired, or died is unknown. The company continued to be known as Williams & Powell even after their partnership ended. In 1905, the company was sold to Westley Richards. This would have been intended as a self-defense gun. In a day when the single shot pistol was popular, this side by side pistol would have been a very handy self-defense weapon to have around, having two shots to fire off instead of one! The overall condition is fair. Gray patina. The actions are functional. The bore is smooth and patinaed. The stock has been cracked and repair around the grip and along the bottom. Own the original!
