RARE Early 1800s IRISH W. & J. RIGBY Antique “MAN-STOPPER” Flintlock Pistol DUBLIN, IRELAND Made Antique Flintlock Pistol
Description: RARE Early 1800s IRISH W. & J. RIGBY Antique “MAN-STOPPER” Flintlock Pistol DUBLIN, IRELAND Made Antique Flintlock Pistol Here we present an antique William and John Rigby Flintlock Pistol, made circa the early-1800s in Dublin, Ireland. This Irish flintlock is a rare example of a pre-serial numbered Rigby pistol of which very few have survived. Serial numbering began in 1821, starting with serial number 5337, making this an early product of the brothers William and John partnership. This example is the constabulary model with a tapering twist 5-inch barrel with a full-length sighting flat. This large bored pistol would have been intended for use as a self-defense firearm. It is a small to medium sized flintlock, being able to fit into a large pocket or more likely in a belt. This pistol has a .67 caliber bore and would have been most at home tucked into a gentleman’s belt when not punching large holes. This also would have been the type of pistol an officer would have purchased on his own to bring to battle in case he was to come into contact with the enemy. The overall condition is good. The action is strong. The frizzen spring is absent and the frizzen hinge is cracked. The bore is smooth and dark. The walnut stock is in good shape and remains solid! “RIGBY” is engraved on the lock. Here is a big bore “Man-Stopper” pistol that will fit into an early 19th century collection quite well! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5 inches. Caliber: .67 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1395 #20678 SOLD Antique: Yes |
