Simeon North 1819 Flintlock Pistol
Description: Major reduction. Great Deal!!! Made by Simeon North, Middletown CT. from 1819-1823. Approximately 20,000 were produced over this four year period. This 200 year old pistol remains in excellent untouched original condition with a .54 caliber 10" barrel and walnut stock. All metal surfaces show a beautiful natural chocolate patina with some light scattered pepper like pitting This gun was well cared for manufactured likely in 1820 or earlier as described in excerpt from “North Pistols and Variations” by C. Meade Patterson which is attached. This gun is 200 years old this year.. The the wood and metal show small handling marks. There is a very shallow 1/3” scuff mark on the right grip side. It may appear deeper in photo but is not even a 15-20th of an inch deep. All photos are taken indoors with full sun light which displays the tiniest blemishes. The gun was never abused over these years. It is excellent. The swivel ramrod remains intact and functions properly. The action very tight and is excellent. The pistol total length is fifteen and one-half inches, and it weighs two pounds, ten ounces. A single, spring-fastened band holds the barrel in place, and the muzzle is equipped with a sight. A rear sight is located on the barrel tang and extends down the rounded, swell-shaped, curved-in butt to meet a short branch of the butt cap. The lock plate is flat, beveled in front and rounded at the rear. A sliding safety to hold the hammer at half cock was placed on the exterior of the lock plate behind the hammer. These were removed most of the time due to getting caught in holsters. Major feature of this gun and having survived makes the gun 100% intact. The lock plate is marked “S. North” over an American eagle and shield. The letters “US” are at either side over “MIDLTNCONN” The rear, left top of the barrel is stamped “JDJ,” positioned above a “P,” which is over “US.” Compare the condition with others. Honoring 3 day inspection as always. Buyer pays 40.00 shipping & insurance. Price: 1550.00. Thank you. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Simeon North Model: 1819 Flintlock Pistol Caliber Info: .54 |
