#4558 Connecticut Firearms, “Hammond BullDog” derringer, 44RF.

Description:
#4558 Connecticut Firearms, “Hammond BullDog” derringer, 44RF. Massive in both design and strength, the Hammond patented “BullDog” was produced between 1866-1880 with approx 8,000 made in all with this 4” barrel length as standard and being the most popular configuration. It packed a pretty good punch, being as it used the 44Henry rifle cartridge!! Woe to the unfortunate recipient of this chunk of hot lead when dispensed at close range! This piece retains fine markings, 90-95% coverage of the original blue and 80% density. The case colored breech retains 70-80% coverage with 70% density, and no pitting of consequence anywhere. The grips are the very, VERY scarce checkered woods (the huge majority had hard rubber grips), and the grips themselves are very near mint condition. The bore and mechanics are Excellent, as well and it looks to be unfired (but of couse, no way to know for sure). Always an interesting conversation piece due to its massive size, and it is generally considered as fact that Doc Hollidays part-time girlfriend, “Big Nose” Kate, gave some cowboy an extra belly-button with a Hammond Bulldog. About Excellent+ overall and will be VERY hard to improve on!! A real beauty!! $1445

Antique: Yes

Price: $1445
