SCARCE Antique EBEN T. STARR .32 Caliber RF Four Barrel PEPPERBOX Pistol
Only 2,000 Estimated Made in the Mid to Late 1860s
Description: SCARCE Antique EBEN T. STARR .32 Caliber RF Four Barrel PEPPERBOX Pistol Only 2,000 Estimated Made in the Mid to Late 1860s Here we present an antique Eben T. Starr Pepperbox Pistol, manufactured circa 1864-69 in New York, New York. This pistol was designed by prolific inventor Eben T. Starr and it very much resembles Christian Sharps’ own pepperbox pistol, complete with a revolving firing pin. The Starrs were actually produced by the Merrill Patent Firearms Mfg. Co. in Baltimore, Maryland. Starr was also the inventor of several Civil War weapons including both a double and a single action revolver as well as a cavalry carbine. This example is a 2nd Model with the left side of the plate marked “STARR’S PAT’S/MAY 10, 1864”. Unlike the Sharps Pepperbox, the Starr features a distinct push-button trigger, a side-mounted hammer, and a rotating firing pin that is housed within the frame rather than on the hammer. The barrels also pivot on a hinge at the front of the frame rather than sliding forward. The overall condition is good. The action partially functions, but the firing pin does not rotate. Tight at the hinge. Good bores. Both grips are very good with low handling. Legible markings. The number on the barrel, frame, and side plate match (“0”). Threading on the side plate is stripped and it can be easily removed. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3-1/8 inches. Caliber: .30 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1700 #220266 SOLD Antique: Yes |
