Smith & Wesson manufactured 6 different variations of the First Model between 1855-1857. This is the rare 1st, 1st, 2nd. variation, the last of the "bayonet latch" barrels with the revolving recoil plate. German silver blade, front sight with standard one line "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." address. Matching numbers on the frame, barrel, grips, and cylinder. Silver plated frame with blue barrel and cylinder. Finished with smooth rosewood grips. The original factory gutta percha case depicts "Flags". MANUFACTURED FOR SMITH & WESSON by "Littlefield & Parsons" ... The case is padded red velvet with a floral design in the center inside the lid and felt on the bottom, along with a .22 caliber cartridge block.
