Smith and Wesson 1st model 2nd issue .22 short revolver
Description: S&W. 1st model 2nd issue. Used in the last year's of the Civil war. One of the first .22 metallic cartridge revolvers. 22 short rim fire. I bought it from Norm Flaydermanin in his gun shop in Greenwich CT in 1962 before he closed the shop and went catalog. It was virtually new but without any finish what so ever! Norm advised me to have it nickel plated and gave me a name of a place to have it done. I had it done and have held on to it these 60 some odd years. I was a Civil War re-inactor and used it as part of my costume with blanks but I used to shoot it alot when BB caps and CB caps were still available or aguila used to make Thier powderless rounds in shorts. Now all they make is powderless it long rifle. This little pistol is in excellent condition overall. All markings clear and readable. The.finish, while not factory looks like it is 98+% The bore is very good, sharp and bright . Mechanicaly it is excellent and locks up tight The biggest problem is the grips, both are cracked and have been repaired and are sound. When I bought it, it didn't come with any grips. And I never tried to find any better ones. Maybe who-ever buys this can find a better pair! For some reason these pictures didn't come out very good, so if you buy it I think you will be pleasently surprised. It is a beautiful example of a very early Smith and WessonPlease E-mail me if you have any questions SOLD Antique: Yes Handgun Caliber: .22 Short Shotgun Gauge: 8 Gauge |
