Stevens Model 43 1st Issue-Rare Early Cast Iron Frame Sample/Prototype
Description: Here for your consideration is a wonderful very rare Stevens Model 43 diamond 1st issue early prototype cast iron frame no bushed firing pin that came from a personal collection This is a early sample prototype Stevens made for gun shops ect to show new cast iron frame design off he was working on during the 1st issue production which was from 1886-1896 and 25,000 estimated to have been made serials up to 20k were brass frame nickle plating with bushed firing pin and the the last 5k from serial 20,000 and up had no bushed firing pin new cast iron frame design that was eventually carried over to the 2nd issue model 43 in 1896-1916 Serial on this gun is 15568 ...its in great condition clean bore visible rifling with very slight pitting,excellent ejector and tight mechanical wise ...bluing is 98% orginal nickle is 75% has open rear, beaded front all numbers match on gun including the walnut grips ...locks up tight ---The trigger position is due to the early cast frame internal design and how its cast inside were trigger sits agaisnt hammer and why this is a sample prototype version...there is small leaf spring that all these pistols use stock and it has that which is the trigger spring...that is the unique feature of this that shows the early frame design as Stevens was improving it...later models that were released after 20k serial to public for sale with new cast iron frame/no bushed firing pin were more refined and how the inside of frame is designed allowing trigger to sit back further which was improved futher on the model 43 2nd issue in 1896...this is a very rare pistol with only one other ever being seen over the years by the seller as being an early sample protoype 1st ssue--- Shippping as antique priority mail 25$ with full insurance SOLD Antique: Yes Metal Condition: Excellent |
