US Model 1867 Springfield Cadet rifle also known as the 1866 cadet. Only 424 cadets were made for West Point in 1867 and 1868. I purchased this cadet from a large firearms company in Cincinnati which stated this as a correct cadet but may have had a period replaced stock.I would agree the barrel is 29.6 inches the breach block has the lightning cuts the trigger guard appears correct as well as the Butt plate. The breach block is marked US 1866 with lightning cuts. The lock is dated 1867 which is correct for this cadet. The Stock is period but appears replaced. All metal parts have a smooth brown patina. The bore is clean and shinny with good rifling. This is a good example of a very rare cadet at less than a third the cost. Shipping will be around $45.00.
