"H. DERINGER / PHILADA"
Martial Contract Flintlock Pistol
Description: This Contract Flintlock pistol was manufactured by "Henry Deringer". He opened his factory in Philadelphia in 1806 and would later become famous for his percussion pocket pistol. Nearly identical examples, are seen in "Historic Pistols" by Smith & Bitter, on pages 286 through 287. This 60 caliber smoothbore round 10 inch barrel is stamped "P" in a faint sunken oval cartouche on top of the breech. The lock is a good professional reconversion. The flat lock-plate has beveled edges and is stamped "H. DERINGER / PHILADA" in the center. The brass mounts retain a mustard patina. The stocked is plain walnut, and the wooden ramrod is probably a period replacement. The stock has several scattered pieces replaced on both sides. A VERY SCARCE AND DESIRABLE MARTIAL PISTOL THAT WERE USED DURING THE "WAR OF 1812". Price: 4,400. Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
