Antique J. & W. RICHARDS Flintlock .43 Cal BOXLOCK Pistol w/ TINDER LIGHTER Early-19th Century Set of Flintlocks
Description: Antique J. & W. RICHARDS Flintlock .43 Cal BOXLOCK Pistol w/ TINDER LIGHTER Early-19th Century Set of Flintlocks Here we present an antique J. & W. Richards Screw on Barrel Flintlock Pistol, made circa the early-1800s in turn of the century England and an engraved Westwood Flintlock Tinder Lighter. Joseph and William Richards worked in London from 1810 until 1815. They were known for their high-quality firearms. This little folding trigger pistol was designed to be ideal as an “Overcoat” pistol, easily fitting in the large side pockets that were fashionable in both Military and Civilian Overcoats of the Napoleonic era of 1790 through 1815. In the cities, carrying concealed weapons was common to combat ruffians and criminals that cruised the streets looking for victims to take advantage of. Tinder boxes lighters were likewise an essential item in this period. This one is equipped with a candle holder and would have been handy for laying fires. This piece is marked “WESTWOOD/LONDON”. The overall condition is good+. Excellent actions on both items. Clear, good bore (aged). Both grips are in good shape with less than expected wear and are seated tightly against the frames. Unfortunately, the candlestick holder is detached, but is included (as photoed). Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 2-5/8 inches. Caliber: .41 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1500 #215305 SOLD Antique: Yes |
