Antique ROBERT JOHNSON US Model 1836 .54 Cal. Smoothbore FLINTLOCK Pistol STANDARD ISSUE of the MEXICAN-AMERICAN WAR!
Description: Antique ROBERT JOHNSON US Model 1836 .54 Cal. Smoothbore FLINTLOCK Pistol STANDARD ISSUE of the MEXICAN-AMERICAN WAR! Here we present an antique Robert Johnson Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol dated 1846 in Middletown, Connecticut. The Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol was the standard issue handgun of the Mexican War. This .54 caliber, smoothbore, flintlock pistol is one of approximately 18,000 Model 1836 pistols manufactured by Robert Johnson of Middletown, Connecticut. The Model 1836 was widely considered to be the best designed and manufactured flintlock pistol of the US military. The pistol has an 8 1/2 inch round barrel with a brass front sight blade, swivel ramrod with button head and iron mountings. The barrel, ramrod, butt cap, barrel band and trigger guard are "bright" finish. The lock plate, hammer, and tang were once casehardened. The lock is marked "US / JOHNSON / MIDDN.CONN. / 1846" below the brass pan. Inspection and proof marks US / JH /P / 46 are visible atop the barrel. The left stock flat is marked with two oval cartouches. The overall condition is good. The action is strong all around. The bore is in good shape. There is some surface pitting in various places on the barrel. Here is a great example of a first-year flintlock Johnson Pistol that has survived the test of time! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8-1/2 inches. Caliber: .54 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1785 #20162 SOLD Antique: Yes |
