British Pattern 1759 Light Dragoon Flintlock Pistol with J. & W. Richards Lock
Description: A .69 cal, 9" barrel with a moderately oxidized bore. This pistol has been re-converted to flint utilizing a correct style antique lock and parts, the breech showing a noticeable halo around the enlarged flash hole. The metal surfaces of this pistol show evidence of an old cleaning, the barrel a silvery pewter patina showing some sparsely scattered cleaned light pitting, a bit more moderate nearer the breech. The lockplate is similar with the pitting a bit heavier overall and partially smoothed-over showing some seperating of the frizzen spring. The lockplate is banana-shaped with pronounced teat at the rear, bridled frizzen and simple line bordering. There is no visible date at the rear but "J & W RICHARDS" remains legible along with a good "(Crown) / GR" Royal Cypher in the center and any proof marks along the breech are no longer visible. The brass hardware has toned to a pleasant ocher patina showing a few mild handling marks and the ramrod thimble is somewhat loose. The smooth walnut stock remains in about good condition as lightly cleaned and refinished long ago showing a number of small cracks near the lock and sideplate, a number of shallow smoothed-over chips more noticeable at the upper tang, a small hole along the right side above the rear barrel pin and some other handling marks. A simple antique hickory ramrod is included and the lock remains functional. A good "example" piece of these desirable British Rev. War martial pistols. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost. We don’t have a web site .I prefer money orders or a check. Item ships when funds come in. I try to keep guns affordable, which means I make less money than most dealers. You won’t get altitude sickness, or nose bleed, with my prices! I consistently have the best selection of older guns If you attempt to buy, you must still contact us for details . Best to email to buy. Sometimes a local person can stop buy and purchase before the gun is removed. Sometimes not home to get calls. Some guns are required shipment to a gun dealer near you for a transfer to you when it arrives. Otherwise many older or black powder guns ship to your door. With the widest selection of older guns at great prices, We don’t have a store, and sell on the internet only. I’m easy to get along with. Thank You SOLD Antique: Yes |
