Cossack Russian Converted Belt Pistol
Description: SOLD A Converted colorful .69 cal, 10 3/8'' round barrel with an oxidized bore. The metal surfaces of this pistol are a dark oxidized brown patina showing old pitting overall. The barrel is equipped with a thin brass blade front sight and shows no evident markings. The lockplate was converted from flint and is of rather bulky construction with slight teat and step at the rear, it shows Russian Tula arsenal markings in script along with ''1804'' date. The hammer spur is broken off and the barrel is loose as the forward wedge hardware has broken off. The pistol is equipped with a rudimentary brass triggerguard and sideplate showing dings and old tool marks, toned overall to a deep ocher patina. The hardwood stock rates fair showing scattered thin drying cracks, dings and a number of powder post beetle holes scattered about. There is an old piece of iron cord at the tip of the stock holding together . The lock still holds though the mainspring is weak. The appearance of this arm really suggests it saw use in Central Asia or some other far-flung outskirt of the Russian Empire, possiblt theblock taken from a musket and native made stock, something made by cossacks for personal use. Very rare to get any early Russian made guns..When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost. We don’t have a web site .I prefer money orders or a check. Item ships when funds come in. I try to keep guns affordable, which means I make less money than most dealers. You won’t get altitude sickness, or nose bleed, with my prices! I consistently have the best selection of older guns If you attempt to buy, you must still contact us for details . Best to email to buy. Sometimes a local person can stop buy and purchase before the gun is removed. Sometimes not home to get calls. Some guns are required shipment to a gun dealer near you for a transfer to you when it arrives. Otherwise many older or black powder guns ship to your door. With the widest selection of older guns at great prices, We don’t have a store, and sell on the internet only. I’m easy to get along with. Thank You SOLD Antique: Yes |
