Here we present an antique European “Cannon Barrel” Brass Boxlock Flintlock Pistol with a Snap Bayonet, made circa late 1700s to early 1800s. This pistol is small, light and simple. Typically, a smaller pistol as is this one, was easily concealed and primarily used for self defense.

This little self-defense pistol would have been most at home in the pocket of anyone in the busy cities of Europe during the mid-1800s. This pistol is small, light and simple. The “Pocket Pistol” name says it all. They were the “Saturday Night Specials” of the 17th-19th century. Men would carry them concealed in a waistcoat pocket and women would hide them in a hand muff. This little jewel was extra special, because once one had expended their shot, they had a backup bayonet for defense!

This attractive little pistol was made for self-defense inside point-and-shoot distances. The frame and barrel are made entirely of brass.

The overall condition is very good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age and remains smooth. Fine grip, nicely checkered, and is seated firmly against the frame. Lightly engraved. Fully functioning bayonet.
