French Model 1763 Calvary Flintlock Pistol used in the American Revolution
Description: The Model 1763/66 pistols were used by both the French Army and Navy, and by American rebel forces later during the American Revolution making them historically significant pistols for both European and American martial arms collectors. No French arsenal markings are visible on the lock. They may have been removed by the Americans if the pistol was part of our martial arms stockpile. The pistol has a 9" barrel, is .69 caliber and 16" overall. The furniture is all Brass which was generally used for Naval pistols. The pistol does not have, and never had a ramrod... it was carried separately. Very good with mottled gray patina and pitting on the iron, aged patina on the brass, several dents and scratches on the stock. Mechanically fine. SOLD Antique: Yes |
