Seller's Inventory #: AH3756

Rare Sardinian roman lock pistol. Probably made approximately 1720-1740 during the rule of the Piedmontese House of Savoy. (In 1861 Sardinia would be united with Italy to be included in the rule of the kingdom of Italy). Barrel length 12½" and 18" overall length. Pistol has a belt hook. Stock appears to be fancy burl walnut, Stock has some very old repairs which are necessary on areas of burl walnut where the grain curves or twists and creates grain cracks. These repairs are found on many fancy grain stocks and are considered “normal". The mounts are very well engraved. Action works perfectly. The form and embellishments are correct and typical for Sardinian pistols. These are rare and this is the first Sardinian pistol we have handled in 40 years. Other examples we have seen in photos are not as well engraved as ours nor do they have graceful form.
