REVOLUTIONARY WAR Era CLARK of LONDON Antique British .62 FLINTLOCK Pistol
1760s-1770s ENGRAVED with GROTESQUE MASK Buttplate
Description: REVOLUTIONARY WAR Era CLARK of LONDON Antique British .62 FLINTLOCK Pistol 1760s-1770s ENGRAVED with GROTESQUE MASK Buttplate Here we present an antique Clark of London Flintlock Pistol, made circa the late 1860s to the mid-1770s in London, England. The American Revolutionary War was fought between April 19, 1775 and September 3, 1783 and secured American independence from Great Britain. Fighting began on April 19, 1775, followed by the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The American patriots were supported by the Kingdom of France, and to a lesser extent, the Spanish Empire in a conflict taking place in North America, the Caribbean, and Atlantic Ocean. This pistol is of martial size. Then, as now, rifles and muskets were the primary arm of the day, useful for everything from hunting to combat. Pistols were certainly not as numerous but still very useful for combat since most firearms at this time were limited to a single shot. A man expecting trouble might carry as many pistols on his person as he could. According to some estimates, European and English rifles were made at a ratio of 250:1 over pistols, making these rare and highly coveted. The overall condition is very good. Original finish. The action is excellent. The bore is smooth and bright. The stock shows use. There are a couple of very faint cracks that are not at all mobile and typically follow the grain where it is more complex. A very nice piece. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 8 inches. Calibers: .62 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $4400 #240141 SOLD Antique: Yes |
