Unique & Rare Brass Barreled Pistol w Spike Bayonet!

Here we present an antique Brass Blunderbuss Flintlock Pistol with a Spring-Loaded Spike Bayonet by G. Ryan, made circa the late-18th Century in Ireland. This is one of the true rarities of the flintlock period, a blunderbuss pistol with an integral bayonet. This would have been a formidable weapon for defense with a massive blast from an .81 caliber bore. This piece bears the name of the maker, a fleur de lys (there is also a similar symbol that represents the Prince of Wales with 3 feathers in this configuration), and a Dublin Constabulary registration number, this last from the 20th Century. The lock, trigger guard and pommel bear light engraving. This would have been something that might have been kept in or on a carriage, in a house, or even on one’s person in the late-1700s.

The overall condition is fine. The brass has aged with a mellow patina. The markings are clear. The stock is smooth and solid. The bore is smooth and clean. The bayonet mechanism works very well. Be careful as it really comes out fast! The action of the pistol’s lock is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a fantastic example of a brass barreled blunderbuss with a flip out bayonet!
