With a Carved Stock and Grotesque Pommel Cap

Here we present an antique Italian made Flintlock Pistol bearing the maker’s name of late-17th, early-18th century Italian gunsmith Lazaro Lazarino in Brescia, Italy. This pistol features impressive silver hardware throughout, including a cast and engraved pommel cap in the form of a grotesque mask, and a delicately pierced sideplate. The stock is carved as well. The barrel has fluted ribs and is marked with the name “Lazaro Lazarino”, who appears to have been part of the prestigious Cominazzo multigenerational family of gunmakers. This pistol was made for martial purposes though certainly more attention was paid this one rather than a simple working firearm. This would have been carried in a belt or perhaps in pommel holsters on a horse.

The overall condition is very good. Nicely patinated steel and silver throughout. The action is excellent. The bore is smooth and patinated. The grip is in great shape. The horn fore end cap has been chipped and only about half remains.
