Henry Derringer Percussion Pistol. .44 Caliber, 1⅝” barrel with a very good-fine bore which shows some oxidation. The barrel is a very nice plum brown patina with random pattern bronzing, featuring only a brass stud blade front sight. The breech features a rounded bolster and is without the inlays; however, this is appropriately Derringer. Sunburst “P” marked with light engraving on the tang, both showing a mottled blue-gray case-hardened patina. The lock plate is appropriately marked as well and shows loose open flowing scroll and a somewhat flat hammer without the later offset, hammer and lock plate showing some lovely fading color case-hardening. The German silver engraved trigger guard bow, pineapple front extension, cap splash guard, flourish side plate, wedge escutcheons and shield shaped monogram plate are all neatly engraved with light engraving on the teardrop and none on the triangle nose cap inlay. The stock rates very fine with a tiny bit of added finish, but with crisp checkering. The lock is crisp and mechanically functional. A very nice variation in a very fine state of condition.
