This unmarked circa 1840 Austrian percussion military pistol is similar to the Model 1844 cavalry pistol. The major difference is that the Model 1844 has a rounded lock at the rear while this pistol's lock terminates in a point. The overall length is approx. 15.5"". The 8.75"" round 70 caliber barrel has a very good smooth bore. All the metal has a smooth even brown patina. The stock is very good with no cracks or chips, 527 (the 7 is marred) on the left flat, and light issue wear. The trigger guard may be a replacement as it is not well fitted. The action functions correctly. This is a neat looking Austrian military percussion pistol.
