Guns International #: 101628590
Seller's Inventory #: AH6409
This Austrian Lorenz percussion pistol is dated 1864. The overall length is approx. 16"". The 10.5"" round 54 caliber barrel has a fine rifled bore with bright, strong rifling. It is marked G. SCHLAGER on the top and has Austrian proof and inspections marks at the left rear. Georg Schlager of Rittergasse 1, Vienna, was a manufacturer of Lorenz arms. It has a blade front sight and a sighting groove at the breech. The barrel is a mixture of smooth brown and bright patina. The lock is marked 864 (1864) at the center and has an Austrian inspection mark at the tail. The normally encountered safety was removed during its period of use. The lock, trigger guard, nose cap, and butt cap are a smooth gray-brown. The ramrod and butt swivel and ring are present. The stock is very good with sharp edges, usage dents and dings, an old small chip at the tail of the lock, and an old repair at the ramrod channel. The action functions correctly. This is a nice overall example of the Austrian Lorenz pistol.
