Sliver banded Henry Derringer. 41 Caliber. 2” barrel with a lightly oxidized bore. The barrel is a fading original plum brown with toning to pewter along its top flat but with strong trace remnants of the lightning bolt bronzing. It features a dovetailed German silver scant blade front sight with dual inlaid silver bands at the patent breech which is maker marked and sunburst “P” proofed. There is very light engraving on the tang and the bolster, as well as on the pewter-tone lock plate and hammer. The cap splash plate, trigger guard bow, pineapple front extension, wedge escutcheons, and flourish style side plate are lightly engraved German silver. The shield-shaped monogram plate atop the wrist shows only light borderline engraving and the teardrop inlay at the butt shows an iron hinged nipple or percussion cap recess; there is an unadorned triangle plate at the nose cap. The walnut stock rates very good showing perhaps an old very light cleaning and bit of added finish, but the checkering remains strong, shows only very light wear.
